RCL: Subjects
COMPUTER SCIENCE The RCL Computer Science section is composed of the most critical resources that comprise the subject of Computing. These include the sub-discipline areas of Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, and Software Engineering as defined by ACM and IEEE. In 2005 and 2008 a joint task force of ACM and IEEE created and subsequently updated a Computing Curriculum. The selection of the materials and the structure of the taxonomy are heavily influenced by these documents. The RCL Computer Science taxonomy is an abridged version of the ACM Computing Classification System 1998. Due to the current budgetary climate, many libraries need to know that they have fulfilled the core requirements to support undergraduate programs in a particular subject area. The collection put together here will facilitate in the selection and updating of core resources in computing. Most computer science programs concentrate on C++, Java, and Scheme. There have been several additional materials added since the last update; particularly in the area of Java and new editions containing important updated materials. Return to Subject List
