RCL: Subjects
LATINO STUDIES The Latino Studies materials recommended in RCL are appropriate for the undergraduate study of the history and culture of Chicanos/ Mexican-Americans, Puerto Ricans, Cuban- and other Caribbean-Americans, and South Americans in the United States who trace their origins to the Spanish-Speaking countries of Latin America. The section is broadly interdisciplinary in approach. It attempts to identify resources that might be overlooked by related disciplines (e.g., American Literature or Sociology). While most selections are in print, Latino Studies includes a limited number of classic works that are out of print. Even though a significant percentage of resources pertain to the Chicano/a experience in the U.S., every effort is made to strive for balance among the various Latino groups that make their home in the United States.
